Engine overheating?

My car is overheating and engine light comes on saying engine is overheating could it be water pump is going out or head gasket or heads needs repair?

Hello,

It could be the water pump, but also it can be the cooling fans.
Do you know if they are coming on as they supposed to?
First you need to check the relays for the cooling fan and verify that they are good.

If the relays are good then you will have to check to see if there is power going to the fan.

You can also test to see if you have a blown head gasket.
