Transmission has been slipping for a year

Transmission has been slipping for a year, but l didn't do anything about it, it would not go into passing gear, third or fourth. For the last five minutes reverse. Started getting loud plu k, and then would go into reverse. It stop that too, and it smokes white smoke right before l parked it. Fluid was changed four years ago, and ran good after that.

Good morning,

If you did not put it off so long, it may have been a simple issue. At this point, internal damage has resulted from slipping.

I would try changing the fluid and filter and see if it helps but I doubt it. It sounds like you are going to need a replacement transmission or a rebuild on the current unit.

Yes that's what l thought. L was thinking about changing the fluid and screen myself and see. L think the linkage might have been hit, when l had a wrecker pull it out of mud at moms, it was after that that it started messing up up more on shifting it seems.

I wanted to ask a question, l don't think it's good to let my truck sit so long. L mean the battery went bad, so l need to buy one and put on it so l can start it up, because it going to be a month or so before l have enough money to get the transmission fluid and screen for it. It needs an oil change too. I could do that, l got the oil, it was om sale. Castrol oil, 18$ for 5 qts in a big container. Am l right?
