1998 Dodge Ram shifting problem

Hi I have a dodge ram 1500 1998 and when its cold and I drive 60 mph it shifts in to a gear and the rpm is at 1500 but when I slow down it jumps up to 2500 and then it won't shift back into that gear. And when it is at the 2500 rpm and I'll push the o/d and it just jumps up to 3000 almost please help me

Has the check engine light come on? Has the OD light ever flashed? Is the trans fluid clean and full?

When I changed the output shift solenoid it went off put it came back on. And no it never has flashed.

Did you check for trouble codes when it was on? Also, did you replace the output sensor or a shift solenoid?

The sensor I was going to change the shift solenoid but I was told if I do that I could brake the tranny even more if I open the pain up because if there is shavings.

That isn't true. If the fluid is dirty, then you may have a plugged filter.
