I just replaced the head gaskets on my 1999 ranger 4.0 V-6 for the second time. Once by another fella second time by me. Nothing was torqued when the other person did the job which cased a bunch of vacuum leaks and missing. Second time I did it and it runs prefectly. But since the replacemet I now have no 4 wheel drive or the heater door control. I was wondering if anyone has an idea of where the vacuum to the front tires originates as I cannot seem to locate it with all the junk under the hood. BTW it also has AC. Any help greatly appreiciated. Also the front driveshaft does engage with the switch.

Good job on the head gasket change but that has no connection to why the 4 wheel drive dont work thats probably something wrong with the 4 wheel drive engage switch or the linkage

i dont k wat you mean by heater door control and vacuum lines to the front tires do you mean brake lines to the front?

I have vacuum operated lockouts. They both worked before the head gasket replacement. Thought I might have missed a vacuum line on the engine. I also put it in 4 wheel drive and the front driveshaft is working properly. Just the lockouts aren't.
Thanks for the answer though.

If you have auto locking hubs make shure the springs inside are working I had the same problem. So I took off the hubs and pressed the spring in, intalled the hubs again and walla good luck I gotta do a headgasket now
