Hello,

It sounds like you have a starter that is out and needs to be replaced. Here is a guide that will help you see how to confirm the failure by testing the trigger side of the starter. Have a helper turn the key to the start position while you check for power to the smaller wire on the starter. You should have 12+ volts. If you do, have the starter checked. If there isn't that much power, check the starter relay, and the ignition switch.

Here are some guides to help you see what to do, look toward the bottom.

and

Check the starter relay as well

Here is how to change the starter on your car.

Check out the diagrams (Below)

Please let us know what happens.

Cheers, Ken

I've tried the provided info. With no correction. When I try the remote the parking lights flash once, also I hear a relay click under the hood. Maybe this info. Will help. Thanks, Bob

If your able to have the car's computer scanned for code(s) this could help or give direction into why the engine wont start.
If your not able to
You'll need to check for spark at the spark plug coil. Remove the 10MM bolt holding the coil to the valve cover and pull the coil out place a small screw driver where the spark plug is. Then place the coil/screwdriver near metal (less than an inch) on the engine and watch for sparking with the engine trying to start.

I tried to crank it before checking this. It did crank and run for about 5 seconds and then it cut off. Its done this twice now. Once yesterday and once today. Not sure if this means anything different or not.

You could use starting fluid (aerosol can) and following directions on the can. Removed the air filter and with someone starting the engine spray into the intake tube/ air filter housing area. If the car start and runs you know its fuel related. If you can keep the engine running by metering starting fluid sprays into the intake tube and dies if you stop spraying, you know its fuel related. Meaning not enough fuel pressure or none at all (fuel pump).

Take care when checking for spark at the coils. Keep your hands and distance away from the coil when checking.
