Lovely!

Gimme a little time

I'm gonna copy / edit/ blow them up and then go over 'em better than the ranger instructors at ranger school went over our stuff. My critique will be just as thorough, I will probably go over to microsoft paint and point out problems. Then i'll post 'em back to you

As in battalion----you can go ahead and start doin' push ups.I know i'll find a deficiency!

I'll be a while---don't give up on me!

First possible problem

Here's my '77 fuel pics---i have rebent/ installed new lines to make them pertty

Lemme know if you find your return and if it has not been broke off/ eliminated

You need to configure back to stockthe regulator will still ok .......see my pics

Lets also change the pcv to a 1979---it sucks in less air volume......you will have to most likely have to re-adjust your mix screw to compensate (this will also affect your idle speed--so adj it too!)......use your dwell/ tach and max out your needle.......i think i covered how to do this in the "stalls when hot" link

Check ot this link----pay attention to the pcv

................and the coil.

....other stuff may not pertain to you

.....i noticed yours was not oem......which is fine, as long as it does not have an internal resistor................., the "high speed lookin' coil" probably ain't much improvement over the stock one

This last pic is from a 1979 wire diagram---it explains the resistor wire

Still looking at your other pics...getting late here....0132 hrs eastern

Lemme know when you gitter done....we will continue on

Your turn

Thanks for the info. I will swap out the PCV to the '79 model today. Its not apparent in the pics but I do have a return line from the fuel filter. It is set up on the top. The two wire ties are holding everything where they are supposed to be. These are temporary as I make something to keep everything away from things that get real hot.
When I popped in the new distributor things went sideways with the Jeep.
Right now I can lean in the Jeep, turn the key and she will fire off but still pumping out black smoke. And it is RICH. I turned the mixture screw all the way in (I know) and it settled some of the smoking down. But it can't stay like that.
It confuses me as the Jeep was running fine til the old Carter crapped out on me. New Weber. Same problems.
After today I will be off until next Thursday so I wont be able to upload pics but I can check these posts on my phone and answer them. (Yes I am one of the last people in the world who does not have internet at the house - but I do have a laptop there - go figure.)

Listen to each class maybe 3 times (links)....till you know it well!

They show the ez way (using references) and the harder way (finding "tdc")

Any headway?

Did chad and david make it simple for you?

Now that it's in right. Have you timed it like I 'splained it in the "stalls when hot post"?

I'm looking thru your pics every chance I get, seems the little lady has me runnin' christmas errands constantly and i'm getting a glimpse here and there

I haven't had a chance to really mess with her. I did crank it up yesterday when it was cold and she barely smoked. Once the outside temp warmed up it ran like crap. I will get back at it tomorrow after the lil ones head to their moms.

Merry Christmas to you and yours
