I had an issue with my vehicle and I'm trying to determine if it was the transmission or at least narrow down what it could have been to try figuring out what needs doing. I was stopped at an intersection and as soon as I took my foot off the brake and hit the gas my engine cut out. My electric was fine and it was idling perfectly fine before that. I immediately turned the car off then restarted it and again everything was fine until I put into drive with the engine cutting off. It did the same and kept doing it consistently. It would remain in idle just fine or reverse but as soon as I hit or went past drive it would cut off. Ended up having to leave it where it was a couple days then went back to try again with daylight and it was fine. It's been parked with as little use as possible since. It's got gas and the fluids have been checked.

Good afternoon,

Is the check engine light on? If it is, do you know the code? You can have a parts store read it for free for you.

This sounds like the torques converter is locking up causing it to stall.

When was the last time you change the fluid? I would start there.

The engine light was on at the time along with the oil light, but the oil and transmission fluid has been checked and were fine. Aside from that one night the situation never happened again. I just don't want it surprising me again. Since then it doesn't accelerate as quickly when I hit the gas though it's very subtle. That and the brake pedal requires more pressure. The brake pedal issue happened at the exact same time. Thank you for getting back to me btw!

Okay, can you give me the code? You can have it read at the parts store.
