Use an Engine Scanner An engine code scanner has made automotive repair easier than ever. When the check engine light illuminates while driving it means there is a system malfunction. With a trouble code scanner you have the ability to retrieve trouble codes stored in the vehicles computer memory. Once the system malfunction has been identified simply replace the shorted sensor or failed part. Once completed clear the code out of the vehicle's computer memory to extinguish the engine light. Once you start driving your car the computer will then go into a relearn procedure and run a number of system monitors (tests) to determine if the trouble has been properly repaired.
