Trunk flooded from bad seal when it rained now car won’t start. Took battery out had it tested then put on a slow charge over night. When trying to start it acts like the fuel system is flooded, but not sure because I’m not a expert at all.

Good afternoon.

How do you mean it sounds like it is flooded?

Does the engine crank over fast enough? Do you have a voltmeter to test the battery voltage?

Have you checked for spark and can you hear the fuel pump run?

Yes, the engine is cranking over fast enough and I don’t have a volt meter to test the battery. But I took the battery to have it tested and then had it out on a slow charge over night because the battery was weak before doing so. When I turn the ignition all the to run without starting it I do hear a humming sound for about five seconds. I’m by far a mechanic just able to troubleshoot and change out more obvious issues but this has so many different possibilities that I need to ask before I change anything.

Wow, I don't know what that stuff is, but that concerns me.

Is it hard like plastic or is it soft?

I would check the compression to be sure none of that stuff got to the valves and has them hung up.

It’s a soft liquid like it’s a mix of water gas and oil feel. It’s my mother in laws car so I do not know much of how it has been maintained and driven. I’ll have the compression checked and also check the the spark plugs to see if there is power getting to them. Thank you for replying and your help.
