My son had a two stage clutch installed a few months back. It just started to squeal when he depresses to shift and when he down shifts it stalls sometimes. The place where the clucth was purchased and installed states it's the throw out bearing. I never had a vehicle stall out because of a throw out bearing. I know it would be stuck in gear which has not happened. So I'm concerned if this is the problem or not.

Hi there,

Thank you for the donation,

If you have a squeal when depressing the clutch this will be the thrust bearing, if the thrust was seized this could in theory stall the engine at low engine RPM but the noise would be incredible, I have seen this happen on a Nissan where the bearing collapsed into the pressure plate and locked the engine up, I would be removing the transmission and inspecting for damage, as at least the thrust with this noise will have to be investigated, I feel that the down shift stall may be more tune / engine management related.
