1994 toyota camry le. The first thing that happen was the cig. Lighter quit working. Then the dome light keeps blowing. Now the passenger window doesn't not work. Except it will go up but down. Not at all on the master switch. Replaced the master switch and passenger side switch. No change. Checked the window motor and regulator. Those are all fine. Fuses are fine. Found no broken wire so far.

Sometimes wires break internally but not externally to make them obvious. They just feel weak/flexxy at the break spot. Between door jambs is most likely place.

Battery was disconnected for 24 hours then reconnected. The window went down using passenger door switch, but won't go back up. Passenger window control switch on drivers door did nothing. All other windows are strong up and down.

Hi mbridges2,

Thank you for the donation.

There are 3 possible cause that I can think of.

1. Faulty master control switch
2. Faulty passenger door switch.
3. Failed motor.

Passenger side door switch has same connector as other rear doors. Swap with one of them and restest to confirm that it is not the passenger door switch that is at fault.

After 235,000 flawless miles, why would the switch or motor suddenly fail just from having the battery disconnected? Is there a fuse and/or relay somewhere that could have failed instead?

Electrical components can fail any time so it could be coincidence it occurred.

A common fuse is used for all the windows so it should not be th cause.

Electrical problem
1993 Toyota Camry 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

lately my camry has been losing power and dying. The headlights, interior lights, and dash lights will all dim and the radio will go off before it dies. The mph/rpm gauges will rapidly move and my windows wont go up or down right before it dies. I have replaced the battery and the alternator but the problem hasnt stoped. It will restart after a jump but doesnt hold the charge for more then a few miles. The problem seems to be worse when my head lights are on. Any ideas?

These are a switch over motor, that is the pos and neg switch polarity to change direction, so if the window will go in one direction the motor will be ok, so I would be checking the switch first.

Window rolls down check it and it is getting power and the switch will work for the window to go down but not up. Could their be a short in the wiring that could not be making a connection to it going up but it works for it to go down.

Hi there,

Unplug the window motor and check for power with button pushed in, as it only has 2 wires the power switches from one to the other for up and down, so to power the motor, attach power to one wire and earth the other if it goes the wrong way swap around, if nothing happens the motor has failed.

Last time I had one of there with this problem it was a faulty switch pack, but this will have to be tested by a mechanic.

This car runs like a jet. No problems at all. Until today.

All of a sudden the drivers pwr. Window controls don't work, passenger and back seat window controls still work fine.

If it was a fuse, none of the window controls would work right? A switch ? How tough to fix myself?

Any suggestions?

Thanks guys, appreciate your help.(When santa drops, I'll send a donation your way. Ok?

Sincerely

Bob S.
