You cannot. You just need to be careful about driving in heavy rain. When it gets intense, pull over somewhere safe.

It was parked in a lot. Do I need to worry every time there is a downpour?

No, not at all. Just be careful in the rainstorms that bring heavy rain.

Has your vehicle been to the dealer for any recalls? Specifically the recall for the engine wire harness splice repair? I have repaired several of these vehicles for faulty wire repairs when the recall was performed. What happens is the tech has to cut open the wire loom and tape to access the splices to repair them, some techs do this with a razor blade and inadvertently cut through several other wires exposing the bare wire to the elements. When the vehicle’s wiring gets wet, strange things happen to say the least. This is just one possibility that I’ve personally seen happen. The harness in question is at the front of the engine between the radiator and the engine.

Thank you.I wondered about it getting water inside map sensor or something. Wires getting wet can cause a map sensor code? Strange thing last night though it wasnt raining and went to store and parked. Key was in ignition and turned engine on again and message came up"engine failure. Service engine now. But this time I turned engine off and restarted and car ran great. No problems at all.?

Is the light still on? If it is, have the code rechecked again. A parts store will pull it for free.

Something is going on.

You will need to wait until it is more consistent. Then when the light stays on, get it checked and get back to me.

The recall for the wire repair was for the signal return splices and the most common failure was related to the map signal circuit. You can contact your local Ford dealer and give them your VIN# so they can look your vehicle up to see if the recall is available for your vehicle. If it is, absolutely do it!

Okay, so I was going home from work and stopped at store. When I got to my car to go home. It happened again. "Engine failure. LService Now". And was really rough and I turned car off and waited like 30 seconds to a minute. Started car and no messages and no problems, car drove fine. I appreciate all your guys help. My brother is out of town and single parent and I have anxiety and I don't know how to do things with engine. Should I just replace map sensor. Thanks so much again for taking the time for me.

Good morning,

I would go to a parts store and have them read the code that is stored. Get back to me with the code.

Engine light was on for first time tonight. O'Reillys said it was only code 0456 that came up. And he said cause I don't have a gas cap and air and water can get in there here in northwest. The PO106 didn't show up with the engine failure/service engine now from last night. Exact same symptoms as a few weeks ago when my brother came up with P0106? He also checked voltages tonight. Everything came up good. Said battery was good but needed charging. Not sure if something might be loose in back as why its not getting charge from alternator etc? I called Ford dealership and she said my VIN doesn't tell her anything except if work had been done there. No recalls she said. And also NTHS said no recalls. What you think?
Thanks again

What was the charging voltage?

The 456 is an evap code. That code will not affect the running of the car at all.

What was the charging voltage?

Roy
