Engine failure service now came on when I got in my car and engine was acting and sounding rough. Turned car off turned it on thirty seconds later was fine. Next day check engine light came on for first time and only code came up this time was the 0456 which he said was cause I have no gas cap.

Okay, that is not the same symptoms. You said way back the light came on but it ran fine.

The 456 code is not the reason for this symptom.

I am beginning to think that it may have an injector issue. I would have them cleaned by a shop to be sure there is no dirt or debris in the system.

Yeah, was same symptom two nights ago when I got code P0106. But didn't get same code this time. But O'Reillys said my battery is good but needs charging? You have to take a part and remove a bunch of stuff to remove battery.

Have injectors cleaned at a shop? Is that expensive? Should I have alternator voltage checked at O'Reilly's to see if that's why battery has trouble charging even though it comes up good and generally no starting problem?

No, the battery can be charged without removing it and it can be load tested as well.

That is not the issue.

Thanks Roy:). I am learning a lot. So if battery is good but needs charging it isn't an alternator issue or connection problem. Does battery suppose to charge though while driving? And could debris in injectors cause a one code of P0106 and still cause same issue without code again? Thanks again

Yes, dirty injectors could cause the 106.

You need a shop to do this service. It runs around 100.

I bought my vehicle five weeks ago. It showed 24.2 mpg. I had all new brakes rotors and pads put in and new air filter. Now it says 21.2mpg? Been steady at those numbers for awhile. Confused. Driving pretty much the same.

I would make sure that the air intake hose clamps are tight and the hose is attached to the filter box correctly. If possible also have the vehicle scanned for any trouble codes in the power train control module.

I had battery checked and had a code of 0456. And O'Reilley said it is because I had no gas cap. Doesn't have one on these cars. And effects mpg. Battery tested good but needs charging though?

Hello,

If I could jump in here for a second, there is no Direct Trouble Code (DTC) P, B, C, or U (Power-train, Body, Chassis, Network) 0456 in the DTC list for your vehicle. Could you please double check the DTC number again and get to us with what you are able to find out. To reiterate BMDOUBLES answer, I would check to make sure the air filter housing is snaps shut and ensure that the proper air filter was used and is seated in the housing correctly. Please get back to us with what you are able to figure out.

Thanks,
Alex

Thank you. Good idea. Someone mentioned getting my injectors cleaned out. Which would maybe make sense to since I had a one time P0106. But didn't come on again with same symptom just a second time. The only code I got a second time from O'Reillys was 0456/ which he said was a lack of gas cap and air getting in there? First time a check engine light was on. Didn't come back.

Hello again,

Okay, again I am not seeing that DTC on the list. In the diagrams down below I have sent you the entire P-Power-train DTC list for your vehicle.

Thanks,
Alex
