Coode P0106

Hmm, they said it was code 0456.

The check engine light came on again today. Stopped at O'Reillys and came up code P0456. Likely cause it is missing a gas cap this guy said also. Should I buy one online for this car. But I thought older years had problem with code not these newer ones? Or could my gas tank be missing anything?

I have a 2015 escape SE 1.6 L

Stopped at store tonight and when I got back in my car and turned key it said "engine failure service now". I turned it off like last time and waited 30 seconds then turned key and no problem. But last time no code came up. Should it have?

The engine failure message happened later after I went to O'Reillys. They checked battery power. They dont have a voltmeter

Charging system?

He said the battery is bad and needs to be replaced.

How test for that and what exact charging system? Just a not so good batterer?

They did. It said battery is bad. He said brand is not the greatest. I told him last Friday it said good but needed charging. I said my car starts. He recommended getting new battery in one to two weeks. But it is kind of buried so now other things in engine have to be moved. :(

Okay Roy, I took my car back to O'Reillys. And only code came up again is P0456. No code came up for the engine failure message last night. He thinks my car is too new for gas cap reason. Should I be worried? Oh and everything else passed under hood in relation to battery, except battery. He said it averaged on alternator at 1432?

What about not getting code for engine failure message except, first time. Could that be related somehow to code P0456 like sensor confusion? :)

Not yet. I have to call around and find a mechanic and compare prices and figure out times.

Thanks. I will be making those calls tomorrow. Is it true your battery can die while driving? Also second time after I get gas my car shuts off only time. But then it starts right up.
