My car was running hot once before I changed the radiator starter and ignition switch still nothing. Before I did the starter and ignition switch I tried resetting the key but that only made the alarm go off silently. What is the next thing I should do? I'm a mother of 4 but this year I am definitely going back to school for mechanic.

Hi,

Is the anti theft light flashing? Have you checked all fuses?

Two things. First check the starter fuse and relay in the under hood fuse box. I attached a picture below to help locate them. Here are a few links you may find helpful:

If you find all the fuses are good, try this. Turn the key to the run position and let it there for approximately 10 minutes. If the security light goes off, see if it starts.

Let me know what you find,

Joe

It was lots of wiring going on. I rewired that the starter is new. It has a new battery and all the fuses are good. What am I doing wrong? It had lots of alarm systems on it besides the one that came with the car after rewiring the wires the anti theft system is on but will not go off.

Hi,

Based on what you said, this is going to be a tough one. Tell me, was there an additional alarm system added to the vehicle? What wiring did you change or work on? If I provide wiring schematics, do you feel comfortable following one? By any chance, was the ignition switch replaced?

Next, try this: Turn the key to the run position and leave it on. After about 10 minutes, the security light should turn off. At that point, see if it will start. By doing this, it bypasses the security system or at least should.

If you look at the pictures below, the entire starting system schematic is listed. I had to break the picture into two parts so it was readable for you, but I did overlap it so you could follow it. Take a look and see if it helps.

Try that and let me know if it starts.

It was all hooked up to the brain box. I changed the ignition switch myself and yes I would feel comfortable with that. I might as well rebuild the whole car and yes there was add on systems.

Since there was an aftermarket system, the only thing you can do at this point is try to follow the power source from the supply. Will it start if you try the key on for 10+ minutes?

Let me know if I can help. Also, try to see if the 10 minute trick will bypass the system.

Take care,
Joe
