Yesterday my 2000 gmc Sierra started losing power and wouldn't accelerate for about a minute then died completely. I suspected a fuel pump cause it would run on starter fluid and the plugs were sparking and the relay seemed ok. After replacing the pump and filter it still will not run and now the fuel gauge doesn't work. Any ideas?

I don't know which fuel system you have? My database showed two possibilities, csfi and sfi, there is a difference. Use a gage and check fuel pressure. Use a noid lite and check for injector pulse.

With engine cranking, check for voltage at fuel pump connector. Gray wire is pump motor voltage, black wire is ground. At present, don't know about your gage issue?

Thanks for the info but I decided to cut my loses and hauled to a shop. Turns out that I left a ground wire disconnected.
