Fuel pump relay replacement

I have to remove the fuel pump relay and bypass it to get the fuel pump running. Once the truck starts I can replace the relay and drive. Any ideas

Sounds like the computer control of the relay is defective-when you jump start the relay -you prime the system for 2secs when it fires up-what powers it after the 2secs is the fuel pump/oil pressure sending unit.
