After using some starting fluid to try and start the engine there was a small "backfire" the engine won't start. At the same I lost power to my fuel pump. Now even with an alternate power source to the fuel pump the engine still will not start. What should I do next?

Good morning,

Is the check engine light on? If it is, do you know the code?

If it backfired, you have spark, just at the wrong time.

I would start with checking the compression to be sure the timing chain has not jumped.

Do you hear the fuel pump run for 2 seconds with the key on? Can you test the pressure?

I attached a wiring diagram of the fuel system for you. Do you have a test light or voltmeter to do some testing?
