1997 Chrysler Town and Country 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

my 1997 town and country has 162000 miles runs great but sometimes it get stuck in gear and I have to pull over shut off the engine restart da engine and then its fine why is that?

It sounds like a bad shift solenoid. Has the check engine lght come on?

Without checking it, I would say there is a sensor that is causing the problem. If the trans works fine after you shut it off and restat it, it's resetting itself. You need to take it to a trans tech and have them scan the computer to see if there are codes.
