I have a 1994 s10 2.2 it is hard to start and when it starts it puffs alot of black smoke then it will run fine then when I go to take off it puffs more black smoke then it runs good it only does this when I shift to a gear then give it gas after that it is fine but it does it everytime is step on the gas. The motor was replaced it only has 6000 miles on but the fuel preasure regulator was not. I took the vacum like on the fuel preasure regulator and it smellt like fuel like I said it only does this when it start it and give it the first bit of gas but it is good after that

Yes the light is on it seems like it dumps alot of fuel when you hit the gas the vacum line smeels like gas. If the truck sits for a long time it wont do it right away but it always does it

Cross these two terminals as shown, then turn the key on. Count the flashes, a 22 will flash as 2 flashes then a short pause, then 2 flashes, if more than one code is stored, the pause will be longer. The codes will display three times and end with 12. Write them down and post here. This connector is right under the middle of the dash...

I recommend you change the oil and filter, if the plugs are black change them, change the engine coolant temp sensor, it's on the thermostat housing, change it when the engine is cold. Then check your spark, is it strong bright blue? or weak and yellow?
Your data link connector is on the left side of the dash to the right of the steering column...

Check this video on spark testing...be carefull high voltage can injure you...

We need to find out where that DLC went! See if they un screwed it and tucked it up someplace. See if you can find a white/black and orange wire together.

Did you check that ECT yet? Use an ohm meter probe across the sensor cold, then as it warms up the final reading should be about 177 ohms, the cold reading should be about 100,000 ohms.

It only has 102,500 miles on it, what it is doing is it wont shift into over drive the only way that I can even shift it is to floor it for a minute then let off and in second and third it seems to rev a little high then slowly catch the gear. The fluid is brown and I here a hissing noise coming from the shifter so I took off the cover and there are vacum lines going to the shifter. Could it be a overdrive relay some kind of vacum module a selinoid or what I am lost once again

If the fluid is brown, thats the first thing on the list! The screen may be clogged. The TV cable may need adjustment as well, a tranny shop can adjust that in about 30 seconds! The vacuum is for the parking brake release.
