Car will not start after shutting off while driving

Running normally on freeway, suddenly the engine slow down and stops in the traffic. Have car towed to my home. Filled up the gas tank and car won't start.

Did you run out of fuel?

If you did, you most likely damaged the fuel pump. The gas is both a coolant and lubricant for the pump.
