So, I realized that my A/C is not working properly recently. I bought the car in October and only used the heating since. The heating works just fine but I recently noticed that cold air does not work properly. When using cold air, airflow seems week and not cooled. Any pointers as to what might be the cause before I spend big money for no good reason? (Also sorry it has 140,000 km (87,000 miles) not 14 000 miles my bad)

Good morning,

Do you have a set of gauges to give me the high and low side reading for the A/C system? This will help determine if the issue is Freon or electrical.

When you turn on the A/C, does the compressor come on?

I attached a diagram of the compressor circuit for you.
The ECM will allow the compressor to come on when it sees the correct readings from the pressure switch. That is why I asked about the pressures.

This may be as simple as it is low on Freon. If this is the case then you have a leak but it may just be a small one where you can recharge it and it will hold for a while. I filled my wife's Nissan at the beginning of last summer and it is still working. It is a little low but holding well enough to work for now.

The way to determine this is to turn on the A/C and see if the compressor turns on. If it does not then we need to check the pressure. To do this you need a gauge set. You can use the gauge that comes on one of those refill bottles but those can be misleading because it said my wife's car was full which made me think it was the compressor until I got an actual gauge set.

If it is not low then we have a compressor issue so let me know what you find.

Run through this material and we can go from there. Thanks

Sorry haven't had the time yet to work on the car. I'll try to find gauges and get the pressures.
