So my major problem is that my air compressor clutch is not spinning so I can’t add refrigerant to my car. I don’t believe I have a leak and yes I know that the A/C has to be on for it to engage. Anyway, I heard that there is a catch 22 with some cars since you need the A/C compressor clutch to engage when you are adding refrigerant and the car will disable it if you are low on refrigerant to prevent damage. With that being said I’ve spent many hours trying to find the fuse for the A/C compressor clutch so I can jump it with a wire. Sadly I have not found it and am very confused. I thought it was fuse M34 but that didn’t seem to work. Does anyone know if this car has one or have any suggestions for fixing my problem? One last think I will add a link so you can look at my fuse box. My vehicle listed above is the limited 4x4 or is a Cherokee if you are not in the US.

Thanks in advance!

Good morning,

You need to evacuate the system of all air before charging. That is done by a vacuum pump. Once the system is in a vacuum, it will take Freon. When the system has a minimum of 20 pounds, the pressure switch will close and the clutch will activate.

There are 2 fuses that control the A/C clutch. I attached a wiring diagram of the fuses and circled there location.

You will need a test light or voltmeter to do some checks.

Let me know when you are ready and I will help with the checks.
