The vehicle apparently had a coolant leak at one of the hoses. I was traveling down the interstate and suddenly noticed the temperature gauge was maxed. I pulled over and let it cool. Once it was cooled down I tried to restart, but it would turn over but would not run and drained the battery. Had it towed home and verified all the fluids were okay and filled the radiator with new coolant. Now with new battery and fluids good it still only turns over but will not run. What would stop it from starting and what needs to be checked or possibly replaced? Thank you for any help.

Good afternoon,

I would start with a compression test to be sure you have not damaged a head gasket.

I would also check for spark at the plugs and fuel pressure.

I would start there.

Seems bad news. Compressionn, spark and fuel results are in the image attached. I drained the oil (oil on the stick looked fine) but it had a light brown color to it. How much would repair like this generally cost?

I would recommend a used engine replacement.

To repair this, you would be looking at a full rebuild which would be $3,000.00 to $5,000.00.

A used engine would be $1,500.00 to $1,800.00.
