Heard a pop (like a circuit breaker) noise. No forward gears but good reverse. Ground strap looks weak and some of the grounds I can see look dirty. Is there a breaker/sensor in the inside fuse box? Also the transmission was supposedly replaced about 25000 miles ago but it looks more like repairs were made only. My plan is to replace sensors and clean up grounds. I do not have a tester so I am attempting simple solutions first. Thanks for any advice

Hard telling what made the noise it may be the tcm or something inside trans. Scan for codes first.

Thankyou for your prompt response. I had a feeling this was the point I am up to regarding diagnoses. I also realize I do need to correct the issues I uncovered anyway. If I need to purchase tester, what am I purchasing. (Ive got many "friends" who have offered to do diagnoses, well you know how that is.) Where do I purchase/rent this dianostic meter.

If it is an engine or trans code autoparts may rent it. Or a rent it shop they are about $200 for a decent one. Try renting it first though. You have ot see if there are any codes coming form trans you can also check for broken wires, and fluid if you are able as many now have no dipstick tube. If fluid is dark brown or black it's probably shot however.
