Abs light went on after I was kicking some road grime build up off of the car from winter driving, and when I first got the car I replaced front pads and rotors and we found a disconnected wire in which we interlaced a new piece of wire to make the connection and taped up with electrical tape. Maybe some grime was stuck to it and ripped it off. Will be an easy check being as all I have to do is take off the wheel. I will check around for the abs tester.

The abs code scanners are hard to find a cheap one make sure it lists your car that it will read most of the cheap ones only read 1996 and up certain cars not all of them. Let me know what you find.

Now I think im sounding like a pain in the butt, but my brother and I have just finished replacing the clutch slave cylinder, the one that is on the front of the tranny, because the car seemed to not want to go into gear as well as it should. Got it all put back together and the clutch seems more lose than before we worked on it and shifting hasnt gotten better. It is driveable but just barely. I have no clue of how to stiffen up the clutch, possibly clutch master cylinder according to my brother but he is use to working on his chevi caviler z24 with a 3.1v6 with a 5 speed. Idk how different they are im just really worried that we may have screwed something up. Please help.

So you only replaced the slave cylinder? Not the whole assembly the clutch master and slave all sealed together? Were you able to bleed it?Also does the clutch pedal have pressure going all the way down or does it drop some then get pressure?

Drops a lot and gets pressure shortly before it hits the floor. We attempted to bleed the system for about 20 minutes. Got some bubbles to come up through the resevor. The slave cylinder is all we replaced.

There's your problem with shifting no pressure on the clutch pedal. You always want to replace the whole clutch master/slave as a sealed assembly only not one part or the other.I have had so many people complain they just couldn't bleed the system after replacing just one piece. If you want I can tell you a good place to get the whole sealed system.

Yes I would love to know where to get one. I priced out a master cylinder and it is $49 and the slave cost me $45. Is it possible to do it with just purchasing the master and using the recently installed slave? If not I will get the whole assembly so it can be done right and reliable, so my car is in tip top condition. You have been more than helpful through my predicaments with this vehicle. Thank you very much.

Part arrived today, installed almost flawlessly, everything got put back together easily. And. Car wont go into gear when idling with clutch fully engaged. When the clutch is to the floor it makes some sort of grinding noise but not when I let off. I need my car and I fear I might need to replace the clutch itself and I dont have the time or money to be pulling the engine out of the car but my brother has a 94 sc2 and him and my dad have pulled the engine on it twice before. If I have to I will do it but I am REALLY hoping it is not that big of a fix. Please help :(

Well sounds like you have a pressure plate issue I have just removed the lower trans mount popped the axles out dropped down the drivers side of the cradle some and pulled the transmission back enough to replace the flywheel clutch disc pressure plate and throw out bearing.

That I take it is the most common solution is just to get a clutch kit and install it then?

Its hard to tell what was going on from your you tube video. If your transmission is grinding into every gear with your clutch pedal all the way to the floor then you have a clutch issue. Especially since you already replace the clutch master/slave assembly. My first name is louie by the way. You should be able to do it in a day no problem. Let me know how it goes.

Louie, the clutch was grinding when it was to the floor even when it was not in any gear at all. My brother and I spent the majority of the afternoon working on the car, in the process of getting the transmission off the engine we also realized the car needs new ball joints. Driver side part purchased and waiting to be installed, passenger ball joint will be at the parts store for me on monday. We got the clutch kit installed successfully without pulling the engine from the car. Between the new and the old throw out bearing there was a noticible difference in operation. We ended the day by finishing bolting on the bell housing of the transmission. Will hopefully finish assembling the rest of the parts on monday and hopefully there is no grind when I hit the clutch.

So your throw out bearing was bad? That would cause the clutch to grind when you push the pedal in. Also was the fingers on the old pressure plate uneven and not the same height all the way around?

Got the clutch kit installed, clutch feels better than ever. Getting fuel filter, plugs and wires, and possibly new coil packs for an all out tune up. When I tested the car out on the road tho it was still doing the excessively low rpms ate stopping intervals though. Any ideas? My brother says ask the car part store about idle relearn.

Don't waste your money buying coil packs they hardly fail on that car if your getting a good spark leave them alone. There is no idle relearn reset when you install a new idle air control valve the idle adjusts down to spec and there isn't a reset procedure after that. So was the low idle a issue before you changed the clutch?I can't remember we have been talking so long now lol. Also does it do the low idle when in neutral?Have you changed the bottom coolant temp sensor yet? Also have you inspected that coolant temp sensor for it being corroded?

I actually had the ignition module go bad on my last saturn sl2. Plug on the coolant temp sensor was fine. Low idle does not do it in neutral but it didnt do it as long as it usually did when we got everything back together after the clutch install. Usually after a battery disconnect it would do it for about 2 days. Took a short trip about 15 minutes away and it stopped doing it. Hasnt done it since.
