My car will not stay running. It will start and stay running as long as you hold the key in the start position, then when you let it go back to the run position it stops. Also no dash light: check engine, etc. Do not light up when the key is in the run position.
Any suggestions?

I had the same problem and I replaced the electrical switch on the back of my ignition cylinder.
But now the key will not turn at all, what do I do now?

Make sure the two parts line up properly, Nick.

JohnP, have you replaced the ignition switch or otherwise fixed your problem yet?

I start my car and after running it for a while my service engine light comes on and if I was to shut the car off it will not start up again. I have to wait to car cools down to start up again. I have replace fuel pump as well as fuel filter and still does the same thing. What could it be?

My car is doing the same thing. I replaced both O2 sensors, hoping it would turn off the light. No luck. Now, the check engine light is almost always on and the car revs high when idling, between 3000 and 4000 rpm. It is drinking my gas. I thought it might be running too much fuel into the fuel injector.

Most places around here do not have the computer diagnostic equipment for a car this old.

Any ideas?

Sometimes my car will not start. I bought a new battery, but the problem continues. The engine turns over, but it just will not start. The fuel pump is working properly. What could be the problem?

Thank you.

Hi Anthony,

If the engine can be cranked, it is not the fault of the battery or the starter.

You would have to test if it is sparks or fuel that is causing the problem. The fuel pump could be working but the injectors might not be pulsing.

Click the "First Things To Check " link at bottom of post to get an idea what to look for.

I turn the key and I can tell the starter works, but I do not know why it will not start. It was driving fine then just turned off and will not turn back up.

You need to verify what is causing the problem. It could be ignition sparks, fuel or mechanical faults that is preventing the engine from being started.
