Heater does not come on until thermostat is set at 90. Is it the temp sensor?

It is possible that the in-car temp sensor is faulty. Setting it to max heat(90) overrides the auto feature and ignores sensor values. Under the cadillac script emblem over by your glove box is where the aspirator draws air in for that sensor. It may be clogged with lint, or some other obstruction. The aspirator tube may be disconnected as well.
