If the fuel injectors are not firing, you need to check the voltage to them making sure it is within the manufacturer's specs. If it is low, the injectors will not work properly.

As far as the key, if the security light isn't on, the security system is working. It would shut down the fuel pump and spark to the engine.

I have 2004 suzuki grand vitara with 120k. Died on the highway while driving.
It has the following symptoms
1. Cranks but no start.
2. When I turn the ignition switch on without cranking the ignition coils get extremely hot after few minutes and start smoking (it has six coils packs, COP) So far I have replaced 3 coils out of six? Is this electrical short? How to trace the short?
2. There is no power to the fuel pump relay from the ECM. When I test the power on the fuel pump relay the test light is dim.

3. The car after I turn the ignition switch on service engine light does not illuminate and nether communicate with OBDII scanner. It shows error link.

When responding please address each question separately.

Thank you
Fred

Check to see if there is a fuse underhood for check engine light connection. Check fuse box to see if it is a connector problem for relay. You might try using dielectric compound on prongs of relay and tweeking prong a little. Coils may be getting hot because of not starting. Hard to say on that one with out physically looking at it.

Had the camshaft sensors replace in my 04 xl-7 after a series of other problems. Truck worked 3 weeks before it broke down again. Was driving and started losing power until truck lost power and died. Now it wont start at all or even turn over. Put a ton in it and tired of it. Need answers and all the mechanics I have been to cant tell me anything. Looking for a cheap fix to get it running to get rid of it. Enough Is enough. Have no idea where to turn

Check battery for condition and load test first if it won't turn over. If battery ok have an assistant try to start then smack body of starter if it turns over then you need a starter.

So is it the starter you hear clicking while trying to start it?Also I would have the battery tested and make sure the battery cable's are clean and tight. Also do you have a test light or a multimeter?

If the inside lights means the dash indicators, check the ignition switch. While jump starting, if you had clamped the negative cable to the engine, it indicates the starter is most likely bad.

Disconnect the starter solenoid wire and use a remote wie to apply battery voltage to the solenoid and if starter fails to work, it is bad.
