Stalls out

Ok so my suzuki has been having some problems with staying on. Basically I start it and sometimes it starts other times it doesn't and I need to jump it. Then sometimes everything is fine but then it will stall out when I'm stopped at a light and I have to keep the Ron's above 1500 for it at stay on. So my question is could it be my battery or my alternator or what? I acually replaced the terminals yesterday because I noticed the positive kept popping up and I would have to push it back down to start the car. I thought maybe that was my problem but it stalled again today. I just don't want to replace the battery if that's not it and vice versa with alternator or whatever else it could be. What should I do?

Have the battery tested at a parts store. They can also check the alternator. Low voltage will cause all your issues.

I did that today and the battery and alternator tested fine. However they told me that it was my starter because the voltage was low. But like I said before I have no problem starting the car it just stales out sometimes. Would that be the starter or could it be maybe the wiring to the battery from the starter or alternator? Or could it be something else? I could be wrong I just didn't think it could be the starter itself if it never has a problem starting.

Starter will not cause stalling.

Vacuum leaks, throttle body being dirty or idle air control are some of the reasons.

Is the check engine light on?

Just to throw this out there. My wifes xl7 has not been starting when its hot. Thats whole nother issue. But what happened was. My father inlaw was yanking and twisting wires aorund to try and get running. He broke the little white clip on top of motor that holds throttle cable. The cable got slack in it and almost caused my wife to get rear ended when she came to stop light and it stalled out. Lady in back of her nearly hit her because she lost engine, power steering, etc. It would not idle right even with cable loose.I fastened the cable back on small bracket on top of engine with what was left of the clip and some marine two part apoxy.(Marine Tex) So far its never stalled again. Been about a month now. Good Luck!
