It will tell you the wire, yes, but does not verify it can handle the load.

An 18 gauge wire has 10 strands, If 8 are broken, it will ohm out okay but when voltage is applied, the wire cannot handle the current flow.

The wire needs to be load tested either with a power probe or a load pro.

The truck will not start after sitting 4 months.
I thought the fuel pump was out because it never ran with key on but I found no power to the fuel tank power connector when key is on. I checked and or replaced the fuel pump relay and checked the fuel pump fuse at the same location. The fuel gauge doesn't register. I have been told to check the wiring from tank to relay, it appears undamaged. I also can't get my OBD to read the ECM. Could it be the ECM? Where to go next other than a repair facility?

Good morning again.

Did you have the wiring load tested? I know we discussed this before. If you have power to the relay and it energizes, then it is between the relay and the pump.

I don't think I have the ability or equipment to load test the wiring.

You are going to need some help from someone who can do this test for you.

You could get a mobile mechanic to come to you to check the wiring.

Thanks, I wish I had taken it to the shop now. I find the thought that one wire in the harness, specifically the one wire the provides power to the pump is some how corroded or broke while parked is very disconcerting.

That is the reality of it. You cannot tell that from just looking at the harness without opening it up and inspecting it.

Well, I broke down and took it to the shop. They checked it out for 10 minutes and found the ECM was bad.
