I got codes of p0562, p0700, p0750, p0562, p0700, p0750. Replaced battery and alternator brand new. Van then went into limp home mode. Will go into drive and reverse but will not go into another gear just stays in that gear. Said they were both bad. Didn't fix the problem. So I replaced the transmission shift module, speed sensors, new fluid and filter. Had codes removed after fixing all that and still wont go into another gear. There are no codes whatsoever coming on now and still in limp home mode so is the transmission junk or what?

Hello,

This sounds like a typical IPM module that is out with the p0562 code, but fear not because it is easy to replace because it self initializes. Here are the instructions in the diagrams below. Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what happens.

I changed the gearbox and the brain box, but the problem remain unsolved. What should I do next? The car can move from park. The first gear and the reverse are even working working well. The problem is that the gear is not changing/selecting. Also, the car has only one brain box that controls both the gear and the engine. It does not have separate brain box. I need help please.

Hi:

There is a separate control module for the transmission. I believe that is what he is referring to. We need to know if that was changed. Also, if you have a scanner that can read transmission diagnostic trouble codes, are there any stored? When you shift the gears, does the transmission gear indicator show you changed to a gear or not? Diagnostic trouble codes are important with this to determine if there is a wiring issue or if the TCM is bad.

Are the components you used as replacement of the same year, model, and type as the original parts?

Here is a picture of where the transmission control module is located.

Let us know.

Joe

Does the van SE model listed above have a transmission relay switch? I am getting code p0700 and p0888 saying transmission relay sense circuit and I think the PCM, ECU, ECM and TCM are one unit. I am not sure but that is what it looks like and I am trying to make sure before I replace the computer.

Good afternoon.

I attached a diagram for you and the location of the transmission relay.

In most cases, this is not the relay but a harness issue for the relay. Make sure you check all the possibilities to determine the failure. Verify powers to the relay using a test light.

Po700 does not mean replace TCM it just means That EATX has indicated a trans sometime. With Po700 now present indicate a circuit problem from TCM to PCM. You got bad advise I know you don't want to but Dealer is best to solve this. They have training and the equipment.

I have a 2003 dodge caravan. 3.3 v6 with 165,000. Miles. I recently made a hundred mile highway trip. The van ran great until I stopped. When I stooped the van jerked then stalled ( just like tryimg to stop a standard with out the clutch) I was able to make it home in limp mode. I have read these codes p0731, p0755, p0601, p0770 twice. I replaced the input sensors and output sensor. I reset the computer and the van still is in limp mode. I have now recieved these codes p1684, p0601, p0700. DO you have any ideas? I also was wondering if I get a used computer will this solve my problem? Will I have to get it programmed at the dealer?

You will only get a TCM and even a used one may not fix it. The way you describe this problem it sounds like a broken part internally. If these codes are transmission codes, you should first check any obvious things, fuses, fluid condition. Then a dealer can scan the TCM for codes, they have reprogramming and other information. Have you tried driving it in 'D' or any other gear other then OD. The hubs, and the front overdrive input splines fail, but not that often. I'm afraid the answer is yes. Dealer. Something probably failed inside when it came to a stop. Sorry. It is high mileage. Good transaxle but try another gear.

Mechanic said TCM for transmission needs replaced going to buy a used one. What do I need to look for as far as numbers etc when I buy it? Is it plug and play or do I need to have it flashed? Also, the electronic cooling fans do not come on.

This is two separate problems. The cooling fans sound like the speed control module by the radiator which is common. As far as the tcm it can go either way sometimes when you get the right numbers it is just plug and play but other times the computer looses its variables and needs reprogramming.

Please let us know happens so it will help others.

Best, Ken

I am getting P0700 code and I cannot clear it. I dont know what to do. I understand this is a code for the TCM. I cannot locate the TCM on this engine. I have found several diagrams of the engine, but still cannot find where the TCM is located. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

It is behind the splash shield in the left wheel well, mounted to a bracket.
But a P0700 can be a bear to erase. Normally I will clear the codes, then disconnect the battery cables, touch them together for thirty seconds, Re-connect them after about twenty minutes, and clear the codes again. Now if you do not see the P0700 code, turn the key on engine off and slowly shift through the gears. When you get back to park, scan again. If you now have a P0700, swap the TCM. You will need to do a pinion factor reset and quick learn to get the new TCM working. Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know what happens.

My van will not go into first or second gear for the first 10 minutes of driving and will be fine the rest of the day after that. It started out about a month ago and only happened a few times and now is happening daily. I have to switch it to neutral and pump the gas while it revs up and then switch into drive and it will catch and I can drive. The problem is worse when turning corners. Any ideas?
Codes found are # 47 and Gear 2 ratio incorrect.

Hello,

Have you checked the Tranny Fluid to make sure it is full. I ask because you say it gets worse when you turn corners.

The Code 42 may be cause do to low fluid. Or it is a bad shift selenoid.

Yes, I had the same idea about the fluids. We did a pan drop and new filter. Replaced fluids. It still is not working. Here are the codes I could not remember.

P1789 and p0700

Thanks for your response!
