Hello, and thank you for taking the time to try to help me. My truck began acting strange about a month ago. It began to spit, sputter, lose power and eventually died on the side of the road. It would start again, run briefly and then it would repeat those evil steps. If I let it sit for several hours, it would start again, move for a mile or so and then do it again. I brought it to the shop and they put more gas in it, they drove it around for an hour and just gave it back, saying nothing was wrong with it they "they could see." I have heard some people say it could be the fuel filter, water in the gas, the fuel pump, etc. I am not a total idiot blonde girl with cars, but I just do not want to get ripped off. I do not feel like I can trust it because I have had to pay to have it towed from the road three times now. What does it sound like to you? Thank you so much!

So when it sputters and dies then it will not start for several hours? If so you need to check and see if there is spark when it will no start.

One of these is easy to install for a test and very inexpensive.

Drive till it dies, then quickly do this!

You simply pull the spark plug wire off of a spark plug (does not matter which one, if by yourself, do it on one you can see)

Hook this device to the spark plug, the other end into the spark plug wire (it is now inline)

Crank the truck, while you or your buddy watches the clear section of this device for flashing.

Flashing, have spark.

No flashing-no spark.

Return here with your findings so SATURNTECH9 can continue to diagnose and steer you towards a fix.
