The engine seems to rev but there is no acceleration. Doubt if the fluid and filter has been changed regularly on this car like recommended. Engine also sounds noisy on top end, but I don't really know about these diesels, so I have nothing to compare to. Would you start by checking the fluid level, which by the way is a pain. Why would manufacturers stop putting dipsticks on transmissions? Does fluid absolutely have to be added from the bottom? I have seen where some add it through the filter cup before putting the filter in. Others say there is a fill port with a plastic cap on it.

Hi,

First, I attached the directions for checking and adding fluid below. As far as your question related to a dipstick, I wish I could answer you. Other than the desire to have the vehicle taken to the shop for service, nothing else makes sense.

When you place it in gear, does it do anything? If not, check to make sure the shift linkage is properly connected.

Let me know.

Joe

When in gear the car moves but has very little acceleration. The engine revs like the clutch is slipping, if I were to be comparing to a manual transmission. When I first drove the car, it seemed to be fine. After it sat for a couple of weeks while diagnosing the no crank issue, I finally got it running and when I drove it this happened. It barely crawled out of the ruts in the lawn from sitting and then going down the road I noticed very little acceleration. I then watched a long video to familiarize myself with the DSG transmission. I'll check the fluid level in a couple days. Hopefully it's just low.

Hi,

If it sat, there may be a leak that you didn't realize. I hope it's something easy. If you can, let me know what you find with the fluid.

Take care,

Joe

Definitely will let you know. The car sat quite a while before I bought it. I was told by a euro guy that he guarantees it will need cam and lifters, but we'll see. I hope it's something simple too. Low or dirty fluid would be nice. Guess we'll see.

Jeff,

Let me know what you find. As far as the cam and lifters are concerned, let me know if that is something you plan to do yourself. I can help you through it.

Take care,

Joe
