My car cuts off while driving. The transmission is slipping and makes a screeching noise when I drive like the brakes or something is rubbing.

This is almost surely a fluid issue and so we need to start with checking the fluid.

I would suggest checking the fluid and if it is low then fill it and see if the noise goes away. I suspect the slipping will stop but if the noise does not stop then we will most likely find damage inside the unit which means we need to drop the pan and check for metal and debris.
