Black smoke rough idle when cold

This has me stumped! 1984 Toyota truck 4x4 22-r carburated- When start engine idles very rough with lots of black smoke. Then after it heats up and its nice and hot and only then with the engine off hood closed. Then fire it back up it runs like a top perfect idle. Ive checked the choke, pvc valve. I live in idaho and in the winter it doesn't heat up enough in the engine compartment to trigger the problem. Does not use any oil. Also the engine oil turns black soon as I change it. I can usuallly fix most but this has me. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Probably need to have the carb checked or replaced. The floats could be bad etc. At any rate too much fuel can cause engine damage.

I have a 1984 4x4 that has this same problem. Did you ever figure out what was wrong?
