Okay, across the dashboard engine hot AC off so we put a BT reader on there and told me the thermostat was bad. So I replace the thermostat. Drove it approximately six miles and it started to overheat. What next? It has never overheated before.

What code number did it give you? The scanner does not tell you a specific thing to replace, it tells you an area to investigate. All that said, if the thermostat was stuck shut, it would cause the engine to overheat, and coolant to be pushed out of the overflow tank. So you could just be low on coolant if you did not properly add more and bleed the cooling system. Here is a guide on flushing the cooling system: https://www.2carpros.com/articles/coolant-flush-and-refill-all-cars - Start at step 5 in your case to bleed the system and have the heat running while the engine is idling.

If this is not the problem, then you need to make sure that the cooling fan(s) is coming on when the engine is warm. Warm the engine up, open the hood, and observe. If it does not come on, then we are probably looking at a bad temperature sensor. We can help you figure that out if needed.

So start with checking the coolant level and filling as necessary. If that does not solve the problem, check the fan(s). Then get back to us and we will go from there.
