So, I bought the car listed above just a few weeks ago and was told that the fuel pump was no good. I replaced the fuel pump, and it ran fine for a few days then it started to randomly shut off. I went and got seafom and ran it through it and it ran fine, and I let it run while I started replacing the front struts when it just shut off and would not start again. I replaced the coil cover along with the packs and there is still no spark, I look at fuses and they seem fine as well. I am stumped and I don't want to give up on it any ideas on what it possibly could be?

Hi,

What you described sounds like a faulty crankshaft position sensor. Take a look through this link and let me know if anything mirrors what you experience:

Next, if the car has a tachometer, crank the engine, and watch the tachometer to see if it moves at all. If it doesn't, chances are it is the sensor.

One other thought. Here is a link that explains how to retrieve codes for this vehicle. It has an OBD1 system and doesn't require a scan tool. All you will need is a short jumper wire or even a paper clip.

Let me know what you find or if you have questions.

Take care,

Joe
