In the past year, driving my car has continually gotten louder with a vibration felt in the gas pedal and steering wheel. It has a kind of grinding rough ride now. I originally thought it was my studded snow tires but it is no different with the summer tires. I also noticed the car pulled to the left. Also when turning to my right on a long tight curve going 65 MPH the loud driving sound and vibration wasn't as noticeable. It's to the point of not being enjoyable to drive anymore. It almost seems like there is packed sand underneath my whole underside. Any ideas what I should check for first?

This is almost sure to be a wheel bearing noise.

I am posting a number of guides that will help with this but you stated a couple of telltale signs of wheel bearing issues.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/bearing-hub-replacement

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-replace-front-wheel-bearings-and-seals

The first thing was that it makes noise/grinding when moving. Next is that you are starting to feel it. Last is that it seems to go away when you are in a turn. This is all signs of a wheel bearing issue. Basically when you turn and the noise stops then the wheel bearing on the side that you are loading is the issue. So if you are turn right, you are loading (putting the weight of the vehicle) on the left side and if the noise goes away then the left wheel bearing is the issue.

I am attaching the info below on the wheel bearing. Please let us know if you can get a recording of this noise and I am sure we can figure out what is happening if we hear it.

Please see the info below.

Thanks

Thank you so much for the quick reply. I have appointment next week with my mechanic, but first wanted to know what possible repairs I would be looking at. I forgot to mention the occasional clunking noise when pressing gas pedal to go after my car has stopped. It does it more often if I accelerate fast instead of slower. Any ideas? Thanks a bunch. Sounds great. I think the best thing to do is make sure you take them for a drive so that you can show them the noises that you are talking about. This may be obvious enough that they can't mistake it but just making sure you are on the same page at the beginning will avoid any repeat trips if they don't hear one of these noises.

As for the clunk when taking off from a stop, that could be related to this. It sounds like a half shaft issue which is connected to the bearing but it could also be a motor mount.

If you are still having issue with this after the vibration is fixed let's get a new post started as it would not have been related and we need to keep each post to one topic just so that others can find the solutions in the future.

However, if they are both solved at this visit to a shop, just let us know what solved both as that will be great info as well.

Thanks
