Driving down road I heard a loud bang and lost all power. Tries to start but will not.

Hmm, I would say you had an internal failure of some sort. Possible the timing chain broke.

Do you see any external damage to the engine? Which engine do you have? The straight sixes were usually pretty robust, but could throw a rod.
When you try to start it does it turn over?
