Humid outside or raining, my truck will not start?

When it is humid outside or raining, my truck won't start. A day or two after the rain stops it will eventually start, but it takes a while and there is a lot of spluttering and shaking. After being run for several minutes, it will backfire and then run with no problem. Is this due to a cracked distributor cap or a cracked gasket in my engine block?

Hello,

This is somewhat of a common issue with many of these 6 cylinder GM engines.
This typically happens when you have moisture in side the distributor or the coil pack.
Usually a poor seal under the distributor cap and/or the coil pack, lets moisture inside.
You should able to clean out the distributor and replace the cap with new o-ring.
If there is moisture inside the coil you will have to replace it.

Be sure to inspect the ignition control module as well.
