I bought my Civic for getting to and from work since it gets great gas mileage. I have had it for 2 years now. The AC and Heat never have worked, not something I was terribly concerned about, but now would like to get it working. The fan does blow, and the Refrigerant was charged last year - the AC just never worked even after the charge. Note I am more concerned with getting the heat to work, but the problems might be related?

I am capable of doing some minor troubleshooting and car repair, but by no means am I a car mechanic.

I will check the heater hose and make sure it is connected, and there are no kinks.

Can I assume the thermostat works since the car has had no history of overheating during the past 2 years I have owned it? Also, the temp gauge does come up once it is running for a little while.

I will also do some checking on the heater controls.

I will let you know what I find once I have completed,
Thanks for the suggestions.
