2000 Honda Accord 4 cyl Automatic

I have a 2000 Honda Accord and lately it has been running poorly. It takes a while to build up and then eventually runs smoothly but every time a stop is make, even at a stop sign, it goes into build up mode once more. Today I let someone look at it and they told me all 4 cyl were missing(meaning not running smoothly I assume). So my question is how do I correct this problem, because I have 4 children and no means of transportation. Help me please, and thank you in advance.

Hi iwilson7,

Is the Check engine light (MIL) showing while driving?
For all cylinders to misfire, possible causes are:
1. Bad spark plugs.
2. Spark plug wires.
3. Distributor cap and rotor.
4. Ignition coil.

Check through the above first.

PLug wires can be tested with the aid of an ohm meter.

Test the resistance of each wire between both ends. There should be continuity and not more than 25 k ohms resistance.
