Hello, My friends and I Have rebuilt a 4.3 liter vortec motor for a Jimmy. The motor starts and runs great but when we shut the engine off the fuel pump continues to run. We timed it and it will run for about 55 to 60 seconds afted the engine is shut off. The vehicle never did this before the rebuild. We checked the relay in the glove box and all our connections. All seem to be well. Were wondering if there is another switch or if there is a bad ground or something. Hope you can help! Thanks

It is normal for it to run a few seconds after engine shutdown. The pump relay stays energized until the engine oil pressure bleeds off. Perhaps swapping out the relay with another will cut back on the long run time after shutdown.

Hope this helps.
