Where is the fuel filter? How do I put a new fuel filter in? Can a woman change the fuel filter?

Good morning,

I attached the procedure below.

The fuel filter is located on the left hand frame side rail downstream from the fuel pump.

I do not know your ability but if you have never done one before, I would suggest having it done by someone who is familiar with performing this operation.

Roy

REMOVAL

CAUTION: If servicing, with the rear higher than the front, or if the tank is pressurized, fuel leakage or siphoning from the tank fuel lines could occur. To prevent this, maintain the vehicle front end at or above the level of the rear of vehicle. Also, relieve tank pressure by loosening the fuel fill cap. Cap should be retightened after pressure is relieved. If vehicle is warm, change the fuel filter before the pressure rebuilds.

1. Shut engine off. Depressurized fuel system. Use caution to prevent combustion from fuel spillage.
2. Raise vehicle on hoist.
3. Remove push connect fittings at both ends of fuel filter. Install new retainer clips in each puch connect fitting.
4. Remove filter bracket by loosening filter retaining clamp enough to allow filter to pass through.
The "flow" arrow direction should be positioned as installed in bracket to ensure proper flow of fuel through the replacement filter.

INSTALLATION

1. Install filter in bracket, ensuring proper direction of flow as noted by arrow. Tighten see SPECIFICATIONS.
2. Install push connect fittings at both ends of filter.
3. Lower vehicle.
4. Start engine and check for leaks.

Thank you very much. I haven't done this procedure before but I watched a couple of videos and I am aware of the push connectors and not to "pry" them off. Also I know to have the front end higher (use ramps) than the rear of the truck. I appreciate your help so much. I will for sure have an experienced mechanic/friend there to help me to make sure it is done properly. Very Grateful, Brenda
