Where is the fuel filter located?

I have a 1986 ford ranger XL with duel tanks. It just now has a problem starting. Some times it starts and runs for a few seconds and then stops.
Some times it will not start.
I think I need to change the fuel filter but cannot find where it is.

What engine is it?
Check on the carb if you have one if it's a 2.8 or 2.0 that is where it is.

The closest year I cold find is a 1992 but it should be similar with yours. Look on the left frame rail by the tank or fuel valve.
