1998 Ford Ranger 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual? Miles

Sometimes when I come to a stop my RPM's rev up to about 3,000 RPMs. When I slowly let off of the clutch just enough, the RPMs drop back to where it is supposed to be at when idoling. It only does it when I am stoped. Does you have an idea why it is doing that

Have you checked the idle air control valve? Check out this posting. I have been dealing with a similar issue with idle and have outlined the test procedure.

Check it and let me know what you find.
