If it is a 5.4 L engine it may be a spark plug coil. Each spark plug has a coil to fire the plug. I have replaced two on my Expedition in the past three years

Have you actually checked to see if there is spark to the plug? If there isn't or it is weak, I would replace the coil.

Let me know.

That code identifies cylendr 4 missfire. If you are standing in front of the vehicle looking on the left side cyl #4 is the second one back. Is that the coil pack that you replaced? Also, did you replace the rubber boot that goes over the spark plug and the spark plug?

This still deals with a coil pack. One could still be bad or the power to the coil could be too low. I believe you shoud have 10+ volts to the coil pack. Have you checked for that?

As far as a primary circuit, it is one of a collection of coupled coils or circuits that receives electric power from a source and transfers it to the secondary circuit by electromagnetic induction. That is why I am questioning the power to the coil packs.

I am not sure what is causing it we know its not the motor mounts. It seems as though its a mis fire or bad cylinder but not sure. It was in the shop and had tps repair but no change. Nothing registered on diagnostic that would pinpoint problem. Please help

A dealership may be the only place that can perform the test I'll tell you about. The concern with your vehicle is most likely an ignition coil. Your vehicle has one coil for every cylinder. They mount on top of the spark plugs. They are notorious for going bad. The dealership has a computer that monitors individual cylinder contribution while the engine is running. They can identify the cylinder using this power balance test. After they identify the cylinder, they can do a stress test on the coil itself.

My 2000 Ford Expedition check engine light is on. I hooked up tp a diagnostic machine at Autozone with the codes telling me that that #2 cylindar wasn't firing and that both sides weren't getting enough fuel.

What is happening is when I go up hills I lose power. When I try to accelerate once I hit 3000 RPM's it drastically loses power while jumping to 400+ RPM's.

Am I looking at a tune up or am I also looking at transmission problems?

The payment is not required, but a donation is appreciated since the answers mostly come from people who give up their time to do this. I am assuming that by mentioning that both sides weren't getting enough fuel, were there two other codes as well? Possibly P0171, P0174? Most of the time these codes appear it is due to an intake leak. The engine sucks in unmetered air and the ratio of air and fuel is compensated. The computer registers that there is not enough fuel being burned and dials up the fuel injector pulse. But if the intake leak is severe enough, the computer cannot safely compensate enough and kicks out those two codes. Since you have a misfire code as well it is possible that the intake leaks are gasket failures where the plastic intake meets the aluminum heads. It is not uncommon for these to go bad since the heat and expansion of the aluminum differs from the plastic. I would start looking for vaccum leaks first before anything else. If you have any questions you can PM me.

Could be a failed injector. Could also be a comporession issue. You need to get it checked to confirm.

The cylinder head would have to be removed to determine the failure. It is a very big job that is best left to a shop.
Before jumping to conclusions, get it verified first.
