Very true, having multiple issues at the same time can make things very interesting to work with. Especially if they are related items.

Awesome! I have an older expedition myself and I replaced several parts along with the fuel pump at 150,000 as a preventative measure because I see them fail at roughly the same mileage all the time at my dealership! I'm glad you got it resolved!

I have recently had problems starting my expedition. I could start it by pressing the gas while starting --although this was a new development. Then it would run well after it had warmed up. Now it wont start and but for a few seconds, then the idle fails and I try again. I have also tried to start while giving it gas and now it wont do that. I have started it without depressing the gas pedal and the idle fails after a few seconds, especially if I try to give it gas.

Hi:
This could be caused by many things, Idle air control, throttle position sensor. What I recommend is to have the computer scanned at a nationally recognized parts store. Most will do it for free, and it will direct us as what needs repaired.

Let me know what you find.

The rubber elbows in the vacuum lines that run along the fire wall at the back top of the engine may be deteriated and leaking.

On several occasions we have had trouble starting the truck when the outside air temp. Is below 20 degrees. Once we had the truck towed & after being inside & warming up for 2 hours it started right up. We had the same problem today & we were out of town. Someone suggested we place a torpedo heater under the truck & in 2 minutes it started. Is this a problem with other trucks? Do you have any idea what could be the problem?

Has the check engine light come on? My first guess is a bad temp sensor. The sensor tells the computer what the outside temp is and the engine coolant temp is. From that, the computer determines how rich or lean to make the fuel mixture.

However, what I really need to know is the following. When this happens, have you ever checked for spark and fuel to the engine when it doesn't start? Chances are one is missing and I need to know which it is.

Here is a how to for checking both:

When this happens, check both and let me know what you find.
