2001 Dodge Durango transmission

Just recently the rpm's on the durango go up and down. Then just two days ago it started to kind of jolt as I start to come to a slow to stop. Is my transmission going out. Also the sensor light just came on two days ago. But went off later that day.

It is possible your vacuum modulator for the transmission is not functioning properly. Do you mean the check engine light came on? Have you tried retrieving the code?

It was the check engine light. I have made an appointment to get the codes read. Should I not drive it at all?

Preferably no, you have checked the transmission fluid for the proper level correct? You need to do this while the car is hot and idling in park.
